What age do you need for quad biking
- To operate (drive) an adult-sized ATV or side-by-side (like your Yamaha Wolverine):
- You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s licence (Class 5 or higher, or a Class 9 learner’s licence in some cases).
- As a passenger: There is no legal minimum age, but the child must be able to sit safely, wear a properly fitted helmet, and reach the footrests. The driver and tour operator decide based on safety.
Do quad bikes have automatic transmission?
Yes, most quad bikes (ATVs) have automatic transmissions — specifically a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), often called “fully automatic.”
What safety gear is recommended for riding quads?
In New Brunswick, the following is required by law and by QuadNB guidelines for all riders and passengers:
Helmet — The single most important piece of gear. Must meet approved standards: DOT, Snell, CSA D230, or ANSI Z90.1. A full-face helmet is strongly recommended for better protection on trails. It must fit snugly and be in good condition. PROVIDED
- Eye Protection — Goggles or a face shield (built into a full-face helmet). Protects against mud, dust, branches, bugs, and debris — very important on muddy New Brunswick trails like the Little River area. PROVIDED
- Over-the-Ankle Boots — Sturdy boots that cover and support the ankles (no open toe shoes or sandals). They protect your feet and ankles from rocks, branches, and if the quad tips. NOT PROVIDED
- Gloves — Full-finger riding gloves (preferably with reinforced palms and knuckle protection). Improve grip on the handlebars and protect your hands in a fall or from cold/wet conditions. NOT PROVIDED
- Long Sleeves + Long Pants — A long-sleeved shirt/jersey and sturdy long pants (jeans or riding pants). Protects your skin from abrasions, branches, sunburn, and mud. NOT PROVIDED
- Helmet — The single most important piece of gear. Must meet approved standards: DOT, Snell, CSA D230, or ANSI Z90.1. A full-face helmet is strongly recommended for better protection on trails. It must fit snugly and be in good condition. PROVIDED

Are there weight limits for quad bike riders?
Every quad bike and side-by-side has a maximum payload capacity (total weight the vehicle can safely carry). This includes:
- Rider(s)
- Passenger(s)
- Gear, helmets, clothing, and any cargo
Exceeding the limit affects handling, braking, stability (especially on hills or in mud), and can void insurance or manufacturer warranty.
Specific Limits for Your Machines
- 2018 Yamaha Wolverine (2-seat or X4 models): Typical payload capacity is around 600 lbs (272 kg) total (including passengers + cargo). This means it comfortably handles 2–4 average-sized adults plus light gear, but heavier riders or groups need to be mindful.
- Yamaha Grizzly 700 (single-rider ATV): Usually around 485 lbs (220 kg) total payload (rider + gear). Most are designed for one rider only.
- Argo XT1000 (or similar 8×8 models): Generally higher capacity (often 1,000+ lbs total payload depending on exact model), making them better for heavier loads or more passengers.
What should I bring on an ATV tour?
We recommend: Helmet (Provided) Gloves and protective eyewear Weather-appropriate clothing Water and snacks (Provided) Valid drivers License and Credit Card
Is safety gear provided?
Helmet and Goggles are provided, please bring appropriate long sleeve shirt, boots, long pants.
What types of trails will we ride on?
You’ll experience a mix of: Forest trails Mud sections Gravel roads Scenic lookout points
Trail conditions vary by season.
Can children participate?
Yes, but age restrictions apply. Minors must be accompanied by an adult and meet safety requirements for riding or as passengers.
Am I guaranteed to see a Moose ?
No
.Moose are wild animals, so sightings can never be guaranteed on any tour. They move freely, and their presence depends on weather, season, time of day, and natural behavior patterns. That said, our routes travel through proven moose habitat in New Brunswick, and we choose trails with a strong likelihood of encounters. Many guests do see moose, along with other wildlife, but the experience is always unpredictable—which is part of what makes it authentic. If your main goal is wildlife viewing, early morning or evening tours during cooler months generally offer the best odds.
